Summer Vacation, Part 1

It's getting to be that time of year when everyone takes their yearly vacation. Joe and I had been talking about how bad we both wanted to go, how bad we NEEDED to go. We hadn't been on vacation for a couple of years. We knew we couldn't afford Disneyland, as much as we wanted to....so we decided to take the girls to Salt Lake for a couple days. Macey had been begging to stay in a hotel and go swimming. We had planned on just going to the zoo one day, and then taking them to the children's museum the other day.

I ended up booking our rooms on priceline and got a great deal, so we stayed for four days. None of us could wait and were so excited to go. That week drug on for all of us!! We left Tuesday morning and of course had to stop at Cabella's on the way up. The girls loved looking at all of the animals and Joe was in heaven. As we headed out and to our hotel, we got caught up in a huge rainstorm. You couldn't even see four feet in front of you. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck by the time we made it to the hotel! I think we all were glad to finally be there. I know five hours isn't that long of a drive, but it sure does seem like it.

After we got settled into the hotel and relaxed for a bit, we decided to go check out the SLC library. It happened to be just a few blocks from us. Let's just say it was nothing like our libraries! It was amazing! I think we were all a little mesmerized. I know...we go on vacation and go to a library of all places. It ended up being really fun and we stayed for quite awhile just exploring everything and taking a ton of pictures. I'm sure we looked like dorky tourists, but oh well.

Up on the rooftop

It was so big! The children's floor had all of these cool little reading nooks. Macey's favorite was the "Ice Cave".  We played around in there for a bit and then went to check out the other floors. They had see-through elevators that the girls thought were so cool. We also got to go check out the roof top gardens. Man, what a view! It's definitely a place we'll make sure we'll go to again.
