Macey's Baptism

Since we moved from Hurricane, I'll be honest and say that we hadn't been to church much. It isn't something I am proud of, just something that kind of happened. It is true, that once you quit going..it is so hard to get back into it. We've had a few experiences with our old ward that weren't all that pleasant and it kind of left Joe bitter. When we moved over to Santa Clara, we had quite a few visitors right off, inviting us to church. For once, Joe and I were completely honest with them in our desires and our concerns. It helped so much! They all have been really kind and patient with us, and it's been a nice change. When Michon passed away, our sweet Relief Society presidency stopped by and gave me a Willow Tree figurine. It meant so much to me that although we didn't know each other well, they still took the time to show that they cared. Little things have happened along the way, but the biggest push for us to go back to church was our sweet 8 year old wanting to be baptized.

I had my concerns. I wanted it to be HER desire, not everyone else's. And I wanted her to know why we do it and understand the promises that she was making. There's nothing like being taught by an eight year old! She went through all of the steps, attended the "Its great to be 8" meeting that our Primary puts on, and came home so excited for her baptism.

Macey and I had a date to go pick out a "princess" dress, as she called it. All white and so cute!
It was so much fun to spend that time with her. She told me she felt like a princess the whole time!
She found one she really loved, but me being the cheapo that I am, wanted to see if I could get a better deal online. We came home and looked online, only to find the same dress but for half the cost!
Mom was happy and so was Macey, so that's what counts!

As the day grew closer, Macey invited her Family and her sweet Teacher at school, Mrs. Nielson.
We were lucky enough to have an awesome Bishop, who talked it over with Joe and made it possible for Joe to baptize Macey. It meant so much to all of us. She then had her Grandpa Stratton confirm her a member of the Church.

Macey and her cousin Adley got to share their special day. Adley was baptized just a few short hours before!

My talented Mom came and helped me make this cake for Macey. We had everyone over afterwards for cake and punch. Thank you to everyone for coming and supporting Macey. It was such a special day!
